Tern runs entirely on your Mac. It has no account, no analytics and no server of its own.
Map tiles, search and directions go to Apple's MapKit service, the same way the Maps app does, under Apple's privacy terms.
Update checks fetch a small XML file from GitHub Pages once a day (Sparkle). The request carries the app version and your macOS version, nothing else.
Developer disk images for iOS 16 and earlier are downloaded from a public GitHub repository the first time they are needed.
Favorites, recent places, the last simulated position and the device pairing record are stored in your user library. The helper log is at ~/Library/Logs/Tern/helper.log. Nothing about where you put the phone is sent anywhere.
